Trump says Iran war "close to over" amid hopes for more negotiations
Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Industrial Transportation, Aerospace & Defense and Industrial Engineering sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.50%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Diploma PLC (LON:DPLM), which rose 6.44% or 316.00 points to trade at 5,220.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Frasers Group PLC (LON:FRAS) added 5.19% or 33.50 points to end at 678.50 and Whitbread PLC (LON:WTB) was up 3.21% or 97.00 points to 3,121.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which fell 5.86% or 30.80 points to trade at 495.00 at the close. British American Tobacco PLC (LON:BATS) declined 1.55% or 60.00 points to end at 3,813.00 and Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) was down 1.26% or 28.00 points to 2,197.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1093 to 657 and 581 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.49% or 16.58 to $3,342.52 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.14% or 0.76 to hit $67.14 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.76% or 0.52 to trade at $69.04 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.10% to 1.34, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.29% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 98.34.
