Trump says Iran war "close to over" amid hopes for more negotiations
Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas Producers, Industrial Metals & Mining and Travel & Leisure sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.50%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN), which rose 2.77% or 8.25 points to trade at 306.15 at the close. Meanwhile, BP PLC (LON:BP) added 2.75% or 10.21 points to end at 381.96 and Prudential PLC (LON:PRU) was up 2.62% or 23.60 points to 924.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Rentokil Initial PLC (LON:RTO), which fell 2.61% or 9.20 points to trade at 343.00 at the close. Coca Cola HBC AG (LON:CCH) declined 2.35% or 94.00 points to end at 3,912.00 and Londonmetric Property Plc (LON:LMPL) was down 1.62% or 3.20 points to 194.60.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 985 to 747 and 589 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.09% or 36.30 to $3,306.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.60% or 0.41 to hit $68.34 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.78% or 0.54 to trade at $70.12 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.24% to 1.36, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.21% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 97.29.
